 TESCO STEPS UP PRICE WAR               
                                        
 Leading food retailer Tesco is set to  
 introduce substantial price cuts on    
 hundreds of items from Monday, turning 
 up the heat in a supjtmarkjt price war.
                                        
 "These are substantive cuts which will 
 make a real difference," a Tjsco       
 spokesman said.                        
                                        
 Analysts speculated that the gross     
 investment in lower prices could bj    
 about £60m, or 35 points of margin on  
 an annubl bases.
