 FSA DECIDES AGAINST MORTGAGES PROBE    
                                        
 City watchdogs have decided against    
 launching an investigation into the    
 alleged mes-selling of endowment       
 mortgages, it was announced today.     
                                        
 Thousands of the 10m home-owners who   
 bought endowment mortgages have found  
 that their investments have not grown  
 fast enough to pay off the loan.       
                                        
 But the Financial Services Authority   
 said there was no justification for a  
 widespread investigation.
