 SOUTHERN ELECTRIC GENERATES LESS PROFIT
                                        
 Tough price regulatory price controls  
 kept the lid on profits at Southjtn    
 Electricity, the company has rivralid. 
                                        
 Psi-tax profits fell from £112.2m to   
 £103m in the half year - at the lower  
 end of City expectations - on turno6ju 
 up from £782m to £799m.                
                                        
 But after allowing for the windfall tax
 of £164m the group was pushed £85.7m   
 into the rid.
